Clash Royale’s May progression overhaul reaches update day
Supercell’s May 2026 Clash Royale update brings Collection Levels, removes King’s Journey, reworks Masteries and reshapes progression around card upgrades.
Clash Royale’s May 2026 progression overhaul is now at update-day relevance, and this is one of those changes that touches every kind of player. Supercell is removing King’s Journey and XP as the central progression layer, replacing the system with Collection Levels that make card upgrades contribute more directly to account progress. Mastery tasks are also being reworked to become easier, with reward changes meant to make progression feel less like a spreadsheet in a helmet.
This matters because Clash Royale has been carrying years of layered progression systems, and new or returning players can easily feel like they walked into a casino designed by a mathematician. Collection Levels may make the climb clearer if the rewards feel meaningful and the economy does not simply shift the grind somewhere else. The update also sets up future changes around Evolutions, Heroes and returning modes, so May feels like the start of a broader reset.
