Intel Arc G3 and G3 Extreme could make May 28 a major handheld-chip day
Notebookcheck reports that Intel may unveil Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme on 28 May, with MSI and Acer handheld consoles expected to use the new chips.
Intel may be about to make the handheld PC race more interesting. Notebookcheck reports that Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme could be unveiled on 28 May, earlier than the previously expected Computex window. MSI is expected to show an 8-inch handheld powered by the chips, while Acer is also reportedly involved with a Predator Atlas 8 device. The leaked specs point to a 14-core CPU setup, with the Extreme variant using a faster Arc B390 GPU with 12 Xe3 cores.
The key claim is not just raw performance; it is handheld suitability. Portable gaming chips need efficiency as much as speed, because a handheld that destroys benchmarks and battery life at the same time is basically a toaster with thumbsticks. If Intel can deliver strong graphics performance in power-restricted environments, AMD may finally face serious pressure in Windows handhelds.
