Monster Boy starts its iOS pre-order journey with premium platforming energy

Monster Boy is not a tiny mobile throwaway. FDG Entertainment is bringing a proper premium action-adventure to iOS, with pre-orders now live and the App Store listing pointing to a $24.99 price. That immediately sets expectations higher than the usual free-to-play platformer with three buttons and twelve currencies. Developed by Game Atelier and created with Wonder Boy creator Ryuichi Nishizawa, Monster Boy offers hand-drawn visuals, six unique transformations, boss fights and more than 15 hours of adventure.

This matters because mobile still needs more high-quality premium ports that trust players to pay once and actually play. The obvious concern is touch control comfort. A side-scrolling action-adventure with transformations, combat and platforming needs precise inputs, so controller support and interface design will be crucial. If the port lands well, iOS players get one of the stronger classic-style adventures coming to phones.
