Intel Arc G3 Extreme may finally give Windows handhelds the efficiency leap they needed

Intel Arc G3 Extreme is the deeper handheld-chip story behind MSI’s new Claw. The Verge’s hands-on preview says the Arc G3 Extreme-powered MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ delivered noticeably stronger handheld performance and efficiency than previous Windows handheld expectations. Intel claims the chip can match AMD flagship performance at much lower wattage or run faster at the same wattage, and the hands-on test saw Forza Horizon 6 running at 60–74 fps at 1200p without frame generation.

The device also combines an 80Wh battery, drift-resistant joysticks and an 8-inch 120Hz VRR display. The caveat is obvious: controlled demos are not full reviews. But if Intel’s efficiency claims hold up, Windows handhelds may finally get the battery-performance balance players have wanted since the Steam Deck changed the category.
