Samsung confirms Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy Z Fold 8

Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will run on Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, which is good news for people who want their foldable to cost serious money and behave like it knows why. The confirmation lands ahead of Galaxy Unpacked on July 22 and suggests Samsung is going all-in on Qualcomm power for its high-end foldable, rather than splitting attention with Exynos in some markets.

For mobile gaming, that matters. Foldables are fantastic portable mini-tablets when performance, thermals and battery life cooperate. The Fold 8 still has plenty to prove, but at least the chipset question has been answered with a very loud Snapdragon stamp.
