Sakumon is one of the week’s more interesting creature collectors because it is not relying on cuteness alone, although there is plenty of that. The game lets players collect Sakumon figures in real life and bring them into the mobile game, then explore, fish, discover items, battle and relax in a cosy social world. That toys-to-life angle gives it a clearer identity in a very crowded monster-collecting market.
The risk is obvious: physical collectibles can feel magical or expensive depending on how the economy behaves. The opportunity is just as clear. If it lands well, Sakumon becomes more than an app. It becomes a desk problem.
