Adjoe is arguing that rewarded engagement is no longer just hypercasual territory. Its Playtime approach is being positioned as an external live-ops layer for hardcore mobile games, rewarding meaningful milestones like tutorials, upgrades, guild actions, PvE progress and events. That matters because complex games often lose players before the fun properly clicks. If rewarded progression helps new users survive that early friction, it could become a serious user-acquisition and retention tool.
Hardcore games ask a lot from new players. A smarter reward path might keep them around long enough to care.
