Galaxy Watch Ultra2 reaches general availability with diving-computer ambitions

Samsung's Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is now generally available after opening for pre-orders in July. Priced at $699 in the United States and €749 in Europe, the second-generation Ultra remains positioned as the company's most rugged and expensive smartwatch. It is offered in Titanium Grey and Titanium Silver and targets users who want more demanding outdoor and fitness features than the standard Galaxy Watch line provides.

One of the most distinctive additions is support for functioning as a diving computer through a partnership with the Mares app, allowing the watch to handle information such as depth, dive time and water temperature. That expands the Ultra concept beyond conventional running and hiking metrics and gives Samsung a clearer specialist use case. The device also benefits from the broader 2026 wearable platform improvements, including Samsung's latest health software and performance upgrades.

At $699, however, it competes not only with mainstream smartwatches but also with dedicated sports and adventure devices that have established reputations among serious athletes. General availability on August 7 will therefore test whether Samsung can convince buyers that its combination of Galaxy ecosystem integration, premium materials and specialised outdoor tools is worth the significant price premium over the regular Watch9.
