Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra goes on sale as company's most powerful foldable

Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is now generally available, giving the company a new top tier above the standard Fold8. The Ultra model is aimed at users who want a foldable to function as a productivity machine, creative device and entertainment screen rather than simply a phone that opens wider. Its main display measures 8 inches, while the chassis is only 4.1mm thick when unfolded and weighs 215 grams.

Samsung pairs the large workspace with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, a 5,000mAh battery and 45W charging. Camera hardware is another major point of differentiation: the Fold8 Ultra includes a 200MP main camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera, with improved low-light processing and advanced video features. The device starts at $2,099.99 in the United States and is available with 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage.

For gamers, the combination of flagship silicon, a large adaptive-refresh display and an expanded graphite cooling structure should make the Ultra the most capable model in Samsung's new foldable family. The price is also extremely high, however, putting it in direct competition with premium tablets and laptops.
