Reverse: 1999 passes 19.99 million players ahead of third anniversary update

Bluepoch's time-travel RPG Reverse: 1999 has surpassed 19.99 million players worldwide as the studio prepares to release its third-anniversary content. The game originally launched in China in May 2023 before expanding globally later that year, initially as a mobile title and subsequently on PC. Cross-platform account support has helped the audience move between desktop and mobile while maintaining progression. The milestone arrives just before version 3.7, scheduled for August 13.

That update will introduce new characters including Coppélia and Rhiannon, additional rewards and banners, two free playable characters and a new chapter. Bluepoch has also announced Truth a Posteriori, a resource-management survival mode set in El Dorado. Reverse: 1999's continued growth is notable because the turn-based gacha RPG market is crowded with large competitors that rely heavily on character releases and frequent live-service updates.

The game's distinctive historical fantasy presentation and time-travel narrative have helped it build a recognisable identity. The 19.99 million figure covers players across platforms rather than mobile alone, but phones remain central to the game's audience and original design. The anniversary update will test whether Bluepoch can turn the milestone into renewed engagement rather than simply celebrating an accumulated registration number.
