CyberConnect2's Fuga: Melodies of Steel is now available on mobile, bringing one of the more emotionally demanding Japanese role-playing games of recent years to iOS and Android. The story follows a group of children who climb aboard a gigantic ancient tank called the Taranis after their village is attacked and their families are taken away during a war. Battles are turn based and revolve around managing the tank's different weapons, crew positions and resources while travelling through hostile territory.

The game's most famous mechanic is the Soul Cannon, an overwhelmingly powerful weapon that can save the group from defeat but requires sacrificing one of the children to fire it. That creates decisions with permanent narrative and gameplay consequences rather than simply asking players to reload after a difficult encounter. The contrast between charming anthropomorphic characters and the harsh realities of war gives Fuga a distinctive emotional tone.

Bringing it to mobile makes sense because turn-based battles and menu-driven management work naturally on touchscreens, while the chapter structure allows players to progress in shorter sessions. The release is a strong addition for users looking for a complete story-focused RPG rather than an endless live-service loop, although its subject matter is considerably heavier than its colourful art initially suggests.
