Lenovo Googlebook leak reveals laptop and 2-in-1 designs for Google's next computing platform

Leaked images of Lenovo's upcoming Googlebook devices have provided one of the clearest looks yet at hardware being developed for Google's new computing platform. The leak shows both a conventional laptop and a 2-in-1 tablet-style device, with design elements that appear closely tied to Google's new software direction and Gemini integration. Googlebook was introduced earlier in 2026 as a new platform distinct from traditional ChromeOS hardware, and multiple major PC manufacturers are expected to participate.

Lenovo's leaked keyboard includes a dedicated G key associated with Gemini and a Quick Insert button in place of the traditional Caps Lock arrangement. The 2-in-1 design is particularly relevant to mobile users because it blurs the boundary between Android-style tablet computing and conventional notebooks. If Google's software can provide strong touch support, app compatibility and desktop multitasking, devices like this could become interesting alternatives to premium Android tablets and iPads.

Acer, Asus, Dell and HP are also expected to develop hardware for the platform. Google may reveal additional information around its broader software and device strategy during the August Pixel event, though the company has not confirmed a Googlebook announcement there.
