REDMI's newly launched 17 and 17 5G are bringing unusually large batteries into the affordable smartphone segment. Both global models use a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz and a 7,500mAh battery supporting 45W charging. The REDMI 17 5G uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, while the 4G version uses MediaTek's Helio G91-Ultra.
The 5G model also offers configurations with memory expansion and retains features increasingly uncommon on premium devices, including practical connectivity and a straightforward large-screen design. For mobile gaming, these phones are not intended to challenge flagship gaming devices in raw performance. Their advantage is endurance. A 7,500mAh battery can support considerably longer casual gaming, video playback and everyday use before charging becomes necessary.
The 120Hz panel also makes menus and compatible lighter games feel smoother even when the chipset cannot run demanding 3D titles at extremely high settings. REDMI continues to demonstrate how battery capacity is becoming a major battleground in 2026. Silicon-carbon technology and denser cells are allowing manufacturers to exceed capacities that would previously have made phones noticeably thicker, and those gains are now reaching lower-priced models.
