Venmo becomes a Google Play payment option as Android expands digital purchasing choices

Google Play is adding Venmo as another payment method for digital content, giving supported users an additional way to purchase apps, games and in-app content without relying solely on conventional cards or Google Play balances. Payments have become a strategically important part of the mobile games business as publishers search for ways to reduce friction around purchases and users increasingly expect the same payment services they use elsewhere to work inside app stores.

Venmo already has broad recognition as a consumer payment platform in the United States, making its arrival on Google Play a relatively natural extension.
