Samsung has announced plans for a broad gaming showcase at Gamescom 2026, with the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra representing the mobile side of its hardware ecosystem. The company intends to demonstrate a full-stack gaming proposition spanning smartphones, displays, PCs and storage, rather than presenting mobile hardware separately from traditional gaming products. The Fold8 Ultra will sit alongside devices such as the Odyssey G8 gaming monitor and 9100 Pro SSD.
Samsung is also planning the PlayGalaxy Cup World Finals, reinforcing its effort to connect Galaxy hardware with competitive gaming and creator events. Foldable phones are particularly interesting for games because their large internal displays can offer a more tablet-like experience while remaining pocketable. The Fold8 Ultra combines that screen area with flagship processing hardware, making it one of Samsung's strongest demonstrations of mobile performance.
Gamescom gives the company an opportunity to present Galaxy devices directly to an audience that normally thinks first about consoles and PCs. The strategy reflects how increasingly blurred the boundaries between mobile, cloud, console and PC gaming have become.
