Rusty Lake's Servant of the Lake launches today, August 13, on iOS, Android and PC, bringing another premium point-and-click mystery to mobile players. The game takes place inside the Vanderboom house decades before the events of Rusty Lake: Roots. Players work as the family's servant, initially completing apparently ordinary household duties such as straightening portraits, washing clothes and preparing rooms for visitors.
As expected from the series, those jobs quickly become far more unsettling as alchemical experiments and the Vanderboom family's darker ambitions emerge. The mobile version is particularly natural because the series is built around examining scenes, tapping objects, combining clues and solving environmental puzzles rather than using complex movement controls. Victor Butzelaar provides the soundtrack, adding another layer to the strange atmosphere.
Servant of the Lake is a complete premium single-player release rather than a live-service game filled with currencies or daily missions. That makes it one of today's most distinctive mobile launches for players who want a focused narrative experience. Long-time Rusty Lake followers also gain additional history surrounding Aldous and William Vanderboom, while newcomers can approach the story without having completed every previous entry.
