Pixel Buds Pro 2 gain Olive finish and new software features after Made by Google

Google has refreshed Pixel Buds Pro 2 as part of its Made by Google 2026 announcements, introducing a new Olive finish and additional software features rather than replacing the earbuds with an entirely new generation. Pixel Buds Pro 2 and the more affordable Pixel Buds 2a are receiving updates designed to connect more closely with the new Pixel 11 and Pixel Watch 5 ecosystem.

Google is placing particular emphasis on Gemini integration and cross-device behaviour, continuing a broader strategy where headphones become an interface for AI assistance rather than simply a way to play audio. Existing Buds owners benefit because several improvements are delivered through software rather than requiring another hardware purchase. The Olive colour also matches the design direction used across Google's latest phones and accessories.

Wireless earbuds have become an important battleground for ecosystem loyalty because switching phone brands is less attractive when a user already owns compatible watches, trackers and headphones.
