Samsung rolls out One UI 9 Beta 5 for Galaxy S26 series with August security patch

Samsung has begun distributing One UI 9 Beta 5 to Galaxy S26-series testers in selected markets. The approximately 1.1GB update has initially appeared in countries including the United Kingdom, South Korea and India and incorporates the August 2026 security patch. Beta 5 continues Samsung's work refining its Android 17-based interface before the eventual stable release. At this stage of a beta cycle, updates increasingly focus on bug fixes, stability and polish rather than introducing large new features.

One UI 9 has already brought changes to Quick Settings, Samsung Notes, security controls and system customisation. Galaxy S26 owners in other participating regions are expected to receive the build as Samsung gradually expands availability. Beta software remains unsuitable for users who depend on a phone for completely reliable everyday use because banking apps, Bluetooth accessories or specific functions can still behave unpredictably.

The arrival of Beta 5 nevertheless suggests Samsung is moving closer to a stable build. Android 17 is already shipping on Google's Pixel phones and rolling out to Motorola devices, putting pressure on Samsung to complete testing promptly. The company's newest foldables launched with its latest software direction, making consistency across the wider Galaxy range increasingly important.
