Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip8 continues its launch-period coverage with the company highlighting the clamshell phone's portability and flexible camera features. Samsung describes it as its thinnest and lightest Galaxy Z Flip yet, measuring 6.1 millimetres when unfolded and weighing around 180 grams. Flex Mode allows the phone to remain partially folded and support itself for hands-free photographs or video, while the exterior FlexWindow can act as a live preview screen.
Those capabilities remain the strongest argument for the clamshell format beyond simple compactness. The Flip8 also uses a 50MP main camera and Samsung's ProVisual Engine. From a gaming perspective, flagship-class processing and a high-refresh internal display give the device plenty of speed, but the compact body still offers less room for large batteries and cooling hardware than specialist gaming phones.
That makes it better suited to users who value portability and style alongside occasional demanding games rather than marathon competitive sessions. Samsung faces increasing clamshell competition from Motorola and several Chinese manufacturers, so reduced weight and stronger software integration are important. The latest camera demonstrations show the company focusing on practical foldable advantages instead of simply emphasising that the screen bends.
