Samsung's Hearing Aid feature for compatible Galaxy Buds has received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration. The feature is designed for adults aged 18 and older who perceive mild to moderate hearing loss and allows supported Galaxy Buds models to function as over-the-counter hearing aids without requiring a prescription.
Samsung says Hearing Aid and Hearing Test functionality will be available on Galaxy Buds3 Pro and Galaxy Buds4 Pro in the United States and other approved markets during the fourth quarter of 2026. Full support requires a compatible Galaxy device with recent One UI software. The clearance is important because wireless earbuds are increasingly becoming health and accessibility devices rather than simple music accessories.
Apple has already moved in a similar direction, and Samsung's entry increases competition around consumer hearing assistance. The company stresses that the feature is not a replacement for professional diagnosis or treatment. Users with significant or rapidly changing hearing problems should still seek qualified medical advice.
For everyday technology, however, integrating hearing support into earbuds people already carry could reduce both cost and stigma associated with traditional hearing devices while giving Samsung another way to deepen its Galaxy ecosystem.
