Tencent's Ausstar Heatwave begins its Shareholder Test today, August 14, giving selected Android and iOS users in China access to the upcoming mobile project. The test is scheduled to continue through August 23 and represents one of the game's largest public evaluation phases so far. Mobile tests of this scale allow developers to examine considerably more than combat balance.
Server stability, account progression, interface readability, device compatibility, battery consumption and monetisation systems all become easier to evaluate once thousands of real users begin playing in uncontrolled conditions. iOS pre-orders have also opened, signalling that Tencent is preparing the project for a broader commercial phase after testing.
China remains one of the world's most demanding mobile markets, particularly for visually ambitious titles, so early performance there can provide useful information before international expansion is considered. The next ten days should reveal which elements of the game resonate most strongly and where technical improvements are still necessary.
Players outside China may have to wait for later regional tests, but today's launch of the Shareholder Test marks an important step from controlled development toward a live mobile audience.
