Samsung reportedly preparing Galaxy H1 over-ear headphones to challenge premium rivals

Samsung is reportedly preparing to return seriously to the over-ear headphone category with a model referred to as Galaxy H1. The company has spent much of the last decade concentrating its personal-audio efforts on increasingly sophisticated Galaxy Buds, leaving full-size premium headphones largely untouched. A Galaxy H1 would immediately place Samsung into competition with products such as Apple's AirPods Max, Sony's premium WH-series and Bose's noise-cancelling headphones.

Details remain limited, meaning specifications, pricing and release timing should still be treated as unconfirmed. Samsung has several obvious ecosystem advantages if the project reaches market. Seamless switching between Galaxy phones, tablets, TVs and PCs could become a strong selling point, while existing Galaxy AI audio features could potentially extend naturally to larger headphones. Battery capacity and acoustic performance also benefit from the additional physical space available in over-ear designs.

Samsung would nevertheless enter a mature category where buyers expect excellent active noise cancellation, comfort and microphone performance rather than simply another Galaxy logo. The report is one of the more interesting hardware developments of August 15 because it suggests Samsung wants to compete much more broadly across premium personal audio.
