Pixel Tag gives Google's Find Hub network its first first-party tracker

Google's newly announced Pixel Tag is preparing for a November 11 retail launch as the company's first first-party tracker built specifically for the Android Find Hub network. The small accessory costs $29 individually or $99 in a four-pack and combines Bluetooth with ultra-wideband and Bluetooth Channel Sounding for more precise nearby locating. A replaceable coin-cell battery is rated for roughly a year, while IP67 protection makes the tag suitable for luggage, keys and everyday objects.

Owners can share access with multiple people, and a physical button can trigger a paired phone to ring. The most important advantage is the broader Find Hub network, which can use nearby Android devices to report the location of a lost tag outside direct Bluetooth range. Google has also built unknown-tracker warnings into Android to reduce stalking risks. Pixel Tag arrives much later than Apple's AirTag, but Android's enormous installed base gives it potentially formidable network reach.

The real test will be consistency across different manufacturers rather than only Pixel devices. If precision tracking works reliably throughout the Android ecosystem, Pixel Tag could become one of Google's most commercially significant small accessories.
