Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem reaches an important point in its shutdown process today, August 16, with in-app purchases scheduled to be disabled. Scopely previously confirmed that the long-running mobile RPG will end service on October 15 after roughly eight years. The game is also scheduled to disappear from app stores on August 23, meaning the remaining period will increasingly focus on existing players rather than attracting new ones.
World of Mayhem built its progression around collecting familiar Looney Tunes characters and using them in turn-based team battles, making the closure another reminder that even established licensed mobile games eventually face difficult live-service economics. Disabling purchases before the servers close gives users time to spend any remaining currencies and finish unfinished goals without continuing to invest money into an account with a fixed end date.
For long-term players, the next two months will effectively become a farewell period. Mobile shutdowns remain one of the biggest differences between live-service games and traditional premium releases: once the servers disappear, the entire experience can become inaccessible regardless of how much time users have invested.
