Pixel Tag waits for November as Google builds first-party hardware for its billion-device Find Hub network

Google's Pixel Tag is not arriving with the Pixel 11 phones this week, but the newly announced tracker remains one of the more strategically important additions to the company's hardware ecosystem. The $29 device launches on November 11 and uses Google's Find Hub network to help locate keys, wallets, luggage and other possessions. Pixel Tag supports precision finding, includes a speaker and can also work in reverse by ringing a paired phone when its physical button is pressed.

The battery is user-replaceable and rated for up to one year, while IP67 protection gives the tracker resistance to dust and water. Owners can share a tag with as many as ten people, making it practical for communal luggage or household objects. The biggest advantage is network scale. Google says Find Hub can use more than one billion Android devices to securely help locate an item that has moved outside direct Bluetooth range.

Unknown-tracker protections remain essential because any crowdsourced locating system creates potential privacy risks. Pixel Tag arrives years after AirTag, but Android's enormous installed base gives Google a powerful foundation.
