Krafton's Lightspeed Studios has formally revealed PUBG Mobile Light, a new 2026 edition designed to reduce storage and hardware demands without separating players from the main PUBG Mobile ecosystem. The Android version is expected to require roughly 1GB initially, while iOS installation will be around 2GB. Instead of removing major systems, players will be able to choose which optional content they store locally.
Existing cosmetics can carry across through the same PUBG Mobile account, and Light users will be able to play with friends using the standard application. Erangel and the familiar core battle-royale experience remain intact. This distinction is important because PUBG Mobile Light is not simply a revival of the older PUBG Mobile Lite, which reduced content and operated more independently. Lightspeed is instead treating storage as modular.
Updates are also planned to arrive alongside the main game so the two versions remain compatible. Pre-registration opens August 25, while the full launch is scheduled for later in 2026. The approach could be extremely important in markets where inexpensive Android devices remain dominant and large game installations increasingly compete for limited storage.
