Xiaomi will launch the Redmi Note 17 series in Malaysia tomorrow, August 18, beginning the range's global expansion and introducing a new Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. The Pro Max is particularly notable because Xiaomi has confirmed a silicon-carbon battery reaching 10,000mAh, the largest ever fitted to a Redmi Note model.
The standard Note 17 is expected to sit lower in the range with a large OLED screen, Snapdragon 4-series processing and an 8,000mAh battery, while the Note 17 Pro moves to faster Snapdragon 6-series hardware, a 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED panel and a 9,000mAh cell. The Pro Max will sit above both. Final global specifications, memory configurations, cameras and prices are due at tomorrow's Malaysian presentation. The battery numbers illustrate how quickly smartphone endurance is changing in 2026.
Capacities that recently belonged to tablets or rugged phones are now appearing inside mainstream devices. For mobile gaming, the additional power reserve could support much longer sessions, although weight, charging speed and thermal behaviour remain important. August 17 therefore becomes the final preview day before Xiaomi reveals exactly how aggressively the new Note range will be priced.
