Pixel Tag remains scheduled for November 11 rather than launching alongside the Pixel 11 phones this week. Google's first-party tracker costs $29 individually or $99 for a four-pack and is designed around the Find Hub network. Bluetooth handles conventional nearby communication, while ultra-wideband and Bluetooth Channel Sounding support more precise locating on compatible hardware.
The tracker uses a replaceable coin-cell battery rated for more than a year and includes IP67 resistance for everyday use on luggage, keys or bags. A physical button can make a paired phone ring, while owners can share access with other people. The most important feature is network scale. Find Hub can use nearby Android devices to report a lost item's location even when its owner is nowhere nearby. Google has also built unknown-tracker protections into Android to reduce the potential for stalking.
Pixel Tag reaches the category years after Apple's AirTag, but Android's enormous installed base could give Google equally formidable crowd-sourced coverage. The key question will be whether the experience remains consistent across phones from different manufacturers rather than working best only with Pixels.
