Bandai Namco's SoulTerra Odyssey is now in soft launch across selected mobile markets, including Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the Philippines. The game combines Match-3D puzzle interactions with roguelite progression and role-playing combat, giving it a structure quite different from a conventional match-three title. Players recruit characters, create combinations from matched objects and use the resulting skills against enemies and bosses.
Roguelite elements mean individual runs can develop differently depending on upgrades and combinations, while longer-term character progression provides a persistent layer between attempts. Soft launch gives Bandai Namco an opportunity to test far more than basic stability. Retention, difficulty curves, monetisation and the balance between puzzle skill and RPG statistics can all be adjusted before a wider release.
The colourful comic-book-inspired presentation should help SoulTerra Odyssey stand apart visually in a puzzle market crowded with relatively similar boards. A worldwide launch date has not yet been announced, so users outside the current regions may need to wait. Still, the current test is substantial enough to reveal whether Match-3D mechanics can support a deeper midcore RPG rather than functioning only as a casual puzzle loop.
