Fairphone expands official US presence with repairable Gen 6+ smartphone

Fairphone is expanding its official presence in the United States with the Fairphone Gen 6+, giving American buyers a supported route to the company's modular smartphone rather than depending primarily on grey-market imports. The Gen 6+ builds on Fairphone's emphasis on repairability, long software support and user-replaceable components.

Configurations offer up to 12GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage and microSD expansion up to 2TB, while a removable 4,415mAh battery reinforces the idea that batteries should be serviceable rather than determining the entire phone's lifespan. Fairphone also promises software support well into the next decade. The US move is notable because repairability has become increasingly important as regulators and consumers push manufacturers toward longer-lasting electronics.
