TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G launches in India with 144Hz AMOLED screen and dedicated graphics chip

TECNO has launched the POVA 8 Pro 5G in India today, positioning the new handset squarely toward mobile gamers and users who want unusually visible hardware design. The phone uses a 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and incorporates TECNO's Alive Matrix rear display around its distinctive camera area. A dedicated P1 graphics chip is included to assist gaming-related visual processing, while the main camera uses a 50MP sensor.

Battery capacity is 6,500mAh, providing considerably more endurance than the traditional 5,000mAh flagship standard. TECNO is also promoting AI-assisted call tools capable of recording, transcription and summarisation, showing how gaming-oriented phones increasingly need broader productivity features as well. Indian pricing starts at ₹49,999, with sales beginning August 21.

The strongest competition will come from brands such as iQOO, POCO and realme, which have established performance-focused audiences in the same market. TECNO therefore needs the rear display and specialised graphics hardware to provide genuine utility rather than function merely as design decoration. Independent thermal and frame-rate tests should reveal how effectively the POVA 8 Pro handles sustained gaming.
