Samsung is expanding the way it sells premium foldables in India through the Galaxy Forever programme for Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. The scheme combines 24-month no-cost instalment financing with Samsung Care+ protection and an assured buyback structure that can return up to 55 percent of the device's value from the tenth month, subject to programme conditions.
Foldables remain among the most expensive mainstream smartphones, so financing and guaranteed residual values can influence adoption almost as much as new hardware specifications. Samsung's approach effectively tries to make an ultra-premium foldable feel closer to a subscription or predictable ownership cycle rather than requiring buyers to absorb the entire depreciation risk. It also reflects increasing competition from Google, HONOR, Motorola and Chinese foldable manufacturers.
Hardware advances have made hinges thinner and devices lighter, but prices remain a major obstacle to broader adoption. Programmes like Galaxy Forever do not lower the underlying cost of the phone, yet they can make upgrade cycles easier to calculate. For Samsung, keeping users inside the Galaxy ecosystem for the next trade-in is an additional strategic benefit.
