PUBG Mobile Light is six days away from opening pre-registration on Android and iOS. The new version is designed to solve one of the biggest practical problems facing long-running mobile games: enormous installation sizes. The Android application is expected to begin at roughly 1GB, while iOS starts around 2GB, with players choosing which additional maps and resources they want stored locally.
Crucially, Light remains connected to the standard PUBG Mobile ecosystem rather than operating as an isolated reduced edition. Existing cosmetics can carry across through the same account, and Light users will be able to play with friends running the conventional application. Erangel and the familiar core battle-royale gameplay remain included. This is therefore different from the older PUBG Mobile Lite, which reduced features and operated more independently.
Pre-registration opens August 25, while a complete release is scheduled later in 2026. If the modular system works well, it could become a model for other huge live-service games that want to remain accessible to players with 64GB or 128GB phones.
