BGMI Lite Android pre-registration begins August 25 in India

Krafton India has confirmed that BGMI Lite pre-registration will begin on August 25 through Google Play. The streamlined Battlegrounds Mobile India edition is being developed for players whose phones struggle with the storage and hardware requirements of the full game. Krafton says the initial Android download should be around 1GB, giving users on affordable devices a far more manageable starting point. The complete commercial release remains scheduled for later in 2026.

India's smartphone market contains an enormous population of players using entry-level and mid-range Android hardware, making optimisation potentially more important than another graphical upgrade. The biggest unanswered questions concern account compatibility and matchmaking. Players who already own cosmetics or maintain friends lists in standard BGMI will naturally want Lite to remain connected rather than becoming a separate community.

The strategy closely parallels PUBG Mobile Light, which is also opening pre-registration on August 25 internationally. Together, the two projects suggest Krafton now sees storage size and device accessibility as major growth opportunities. For Indian players waiting years for another lighter BGMI experience, the first concrete step arrives next Tuesday.
