POCO is two days away from launching the M8x 5G in India on August 21. The handset is expected to become one of the first smartphones in the market using Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 platform, positioning it squarely in the affordable 5G segment. POCO has also highlighted a very large battery, with current launch material pointing toward approximately 7,900mAh capacity. A high-refresh display and multiple memory configurations are expected to support the performance-focused positioning.
POCO's M-series has traditionally targeted users who value specifications and battery life over premium materials, and the M8x follows that formula closely. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 should provide enough performance for mainstream games, although it will not compete with the upper-mid-range chipsets used in specialist gaming devices. A nearly 8,000mAh battery may be the more meaningful specification for typical buyers, particularly in markets where phones function as primary entertainment devices.
Final pricing, cameras and configuration details will be confirmed on Friday. If POCO keeps the price below ₹20,000 as expected, the M8x could become an important volume model.
