POCO M8x 5G launches tomorrow as affordable 5G competition intensifies in India

POCO is preparing to launch the M8x 5G in India tomorrow, August 21, placing the new model into one of the industry's fiercest budget and mid-range markets. The handset is expected to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 platform alongside a particularly large battery, with current launch information pointing toward capacity close to 7,900mAh. POCO's M-series traditionally prioritises straightforward value, battery life and gaming capability over luxury materials.

That makes the M8x especially relevant as larger batteries spread quickly down the smartphone price ladder. Qualcomm's 4-series chipset will not compete with flagship processors, but popular titles such as battle royales and MOBAs increasingly scale well across mainstream hardware. Final cameras, memory configurations and pricing will be confirmed at tomorrow's announcement.

If POCO manages to keep the device below the ₹20,000 region, the battery and 5G connectivity could make it particularly attractive to users whose phone functions as their main entertainment platform. The launch comes only a day after iQOO's Z11 announcement and Moto G Max sales begin.
