Future iQOO phones are reportedly being tested with some of the fastest displays yet discussed for mainstream Android hardware. Leaks suggest the iQOO 16 could use a 2K panel around 165Hz, while the Neo 12 may experiment with refresh rates approaching 185Hz. Neither device has been formally announced, meaning those figures remain subject to change.

The trend is nevertheless relevant because today's iQOO Z11 already launches with a 144Hz display, demonstrating how quickly once-specialist gaming specifications are moving down the portfolio. Increasing refresh rates reduces display latency and can make competitive games feel more responsive, but returns become progressively smaller while power and thermal costs rise. Game developers also need to unlock appropriate frame-rate modes. A 185Hz phone running most titles at 60fps gains little practical advantage.

Cooling, battery capacity and processor efficiency therefore matter at least as much as the headline panel number. iQOO has built a strong performance identity, so pushing screens further would fit its brand even if the final commercial hardware lands below the highest leaked figures.
