PUBG Mobile Light is now four days away from opening pre-registration on August 25. Krafton and Lightspeed Studios are developing the new client to solve the increasingly serious storage problem surrounding long-running mobile live services. Android installation is expected to begin at roughly 1GB, while iOS starts around 2GB, with users selecting additional maps and resources only when needed. Importantly, this is not simply a revival of the old PUBG Mobile Lite.
The new Light application is designed to remain inside the standard PUBG Mobile ecosystem, preserving account cosmetics and allowing users to play with friends running the conventional application. Erangel and the core battle-royale experience remain included. That modular strategy could provide a useful model for other games that have accumulated tens of gigabytes of optional content over several years. Lower storage requirements are especially valuable in markets where 64GB and 128GB phones remain common.
Pre-registration begins Monday, while the complete commercial release is planned for later in 2026. Device requirements and final regional availability should become clearer as the campaign opens.
