Pixel Watch 5 begins first full retail day with improved GPS and offline Gemini

Pixel Watch 5 is entering its first complete day on sale after launching alongside Google's new phones. The wearable starts at $399 for the 41mm model and is also available in a larger 45mm version. Google has upgraded processing, memory and GPS while pushing Gemini deeper into the watch experience. Selected assistant functions can operate offline, reducing dependence on a phone or network connection for simple tasks.

Health Guardian is designed to interpret longer-term wellness patterns, although several of Google's most ambitious health functions are arriving through later software updates or remain subject to regulatory approval. Initial reviews have particularly highlighted improved GPS accuracy and a more capable strength-training experience. Battery life remains closer to evolutionary than revolutionary, with usage varying substantially according to size, always-on display settings and activity tracking.

Pixel Watch 5 competes directly with Samsung's Galaxy Watch9 family and increasingly functions as part of a larger ecosystem rather than an isolated wearable. The first full retail weekend will provide a much broader sample of battery and fitness data from ordinary users.
