Gangstar: Mirage City moves into its opening weekend after launching on August 20 across Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia. Level Infinite and Gameloft's latest Gangstar project centres on a large urban environment, crews, factions and criminal activities, reviving a mobile series once closely associated with open-world crime games.
Pre-registration events offered milestone rewards including diamonds and vehicle-upgrade items, which are being delivered through the game after launch. The limited regional rollout effectively functions as a very large commercial test before any potential expansion to additional markets. Open-world traffic, vehicles, online players and city simulation place significantly greater demands on smartphones than smaller mission-based action games, making optimisation one of the most important early questions.
Monetisation will be watched equally closely because players expect enough freedom to make an urban sandbox feel genuinely open. Mirage City's first weekend should provide a clearer indication of server stability, retention and how well the game performs across mainstream Android hardware.
