Vivo has expanded its affordable 5G lineup with the Y31t 5G, pairing a large 7,200mAh battery with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 platform. The handset also includes a 120Hz LCD, 50MP main camera and IP69-rated resistance, giving it unusually strong durability credentials for its segment. Large batteries have become one of 2026's defining smartphone trends, helped by newer cell technologies that allow manufacturers to increase capacity without turning every phone into a rugged brick.
The Y31t is another example of that shift reaching mainstream devices. A Snapdragon 4-series chipset will not compete with dedicated gaming phones at maximum graphical settings, but endurance can matter more than benchmark leadership to users playing popular competitive titles or streaming video for hours. IP69 protection also makes the device appealing in markets where phones encounter dust, rain and harsh everyday conditions.
Vivo's launch adds further pressure to a value segment already crowded with similarly oversized batteries from POCO, realme, Motorola and other manufacturers.
