TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G reaches first weekend of Indian sales

TECNO's POVA 8 Pro 5G enters its first weekend of Indian retail availability after sales began on August 21. The performance-oriented phone features a 1.5K AMOLED display refreshing at up to 144Hz, MediaTek's Dimensity 7400 Ultimate platform and a rear Alive Matrix lighting system using individually controlled LEDs. A 6,500mAh battery supports 45W charging, while the main camera uses a 50MP Sony sensor with optical stabilisation.

TECNO is also promoting an AI-assisted call system that can record, transcribe and summarise conversations. The high-refresh display clearly targets gaming users, but sustained performance will be more important than peak specification numbers. A 144Hz panel provides little advantage if demanding games cannot maintain correspondingly high frame rates. Cooling, touch response and thermal throttling therefore deserve particular attention in independent testing.

At ₹49,999 before promotional offers, the POVA 8 Pro is competing against powerful alternatives rather than occupying the inexpensive enthusiast niche traditionally associated with the POVA brand.
