Pixel 11 Camera adds faster Quick Access and Launch Control options

Google’s Pixel Camera application is adding new control options on the Pixel 11 family, including Quick Access sliders and additional launch behaviour. The changes are small compared with the headline AI features surrounding the new phones, but they address a recurring criticism of computational-camera smartphones: users sometimes have less immediate control than they would on a traditional camera interface. Quick Access makes commonly adjusted settings easier to reach without repeatedly diving through menus.

Google has also added launch-related controls that alter how the camera behaves when opened. Some of the new interface options are disabled by default, meaning Pixel 11 owners may not encounter them unless they explore settings. That is slightly unfortunate because accessibility is the entire point of a shortcut. Google’s broader camera strategy remains heavily computational, with the phone making many decisions automatically after the shutter button is pressed.

Providing more visible manual controls does not reverse that philosophy, but it gives experienced users a little more influence before capture. For a device marketed strongly around photography, these workflow improvements can matter as much as another AI editing mode.
