POCO M8x arrives with Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 and a huge 7,900mAh battery

POCO has unveiled the M8x with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 and a 7,900mAh battery, reinforcing the company’s traditional focus on specifications that are easy for value-oriented buyers to appreciate. The phone also uses a large 120Hz display and a 50-megapixel main camera. Snapdragon 4-series hardware is aimed at affordable devices rather than flagship gaming, but modern competitive titles generally scale effectively onto this class of processor.

The enormous battery is therefore likely to be the M8x’s most meaningful advantage. It provides considerably more reserve for video, navigation, hotspot use and gaming than the 5,000mAh batteries that dominated Android phones for years. The trade-offs will become clearer in reviews. Extra capacity can add weight, and a large cell is less impressive when charging is slow or thermal management is poor. POCO also faces far more battery-focused competition than it did in previous generations.

Vivo, Honor and realme are pushing similar capacities, while several upcoming phones are expected to cross the 10,000mAh line. Endurance is becoming a genuine specification race.
