Nexon has officially renamed its previously mysterious Project RX as Fareidolia, confirming that the character-focused game is being developed for iOS and Android alongside PC and console platforms. Fareidolia takes place in Anima City, a world deliberately designed to feel familiar yet slightly strange. Players become director of the Anima City Restoration Center while also managing Tasogare Hall and living alongside characters known as Mates, each possessing distinct abilities and personalities.
Nexon will bring an in-development build to Tokyo Game Show in September, where attendees will be able to play it publicly for the first time, and a new trailer is scheduled for September 17. The mobile confirmation is especially notable because Fareidolia appears to be another ambitious cross-platform production rather than a simplified companion game. Nexon describes the project as heavily focused on immersive storytelling, everyday interactions and building emotional connections with its characters.
The coming TGS demo should reveal whether that character-driven concept translates into meaningful gameplay or primarily functions as an elaborate social and collection system.
