Fire-Boltt is moving beyond wearables today with the launch of its new Boltt smartphone brand and two debut devices, the Ace 5G and Evo 4G. Both use 6.79-inch HD+ displays with 120Hz refresh rates and 6,000mAh batteries, while the Ace 5G adds faster connectivity, 18W charging and a 64-megapixel main camera. The more affordable Evo 4G uses a 50-megapixel main sensor. Both include 8-megapixel selfie cameras and Google-powered tools including Gemini, Circle to Search and Google Lens.
The launch is strategically interesting because Fire-Boltt built much of its recognition in India's highly competitive affordable smartwatch market. Moving into smartphones places the company against entrenched brands such as Xiaomi, Realme, Samsung, Motorola and Lava, all of which already operate on exceptionally thin margins in the same price-sensitive segment.
A 120Hz display and large battery are no longer unusual at budget prices, so software quality, after-sales support and aggressive pricing will matter enormously. Flipkart exclusivity gives Boltt immediate national distribution, but today's launch is really the beginning of the harder task: proving the brand can support phones for years rather than simply sell them.
