One UI 9 testing expands across dozens of Galaxy devices as Android 17 rollout accelerates

Samsung is internally testing Android 17-based One UI 9 across a large range of Galaxy phones and tablets, with reports indicating development builds for dozens of devices beyond the newest flagship models. The Galaxy S26 series already has access to public beta software in selected markets, while Samsung's latest foldables launched with One UI 9.

Broad internal testing is an encouraging sign for users with older Galaxy hardware because Samsung now promises unusually long software support across much of its premium and mid-range portfolio. Delivering that promise is technically challenging. Every model uses different processors, cameras, modems and regional configurations, meaning a major Android release must be tested across an enormous matrix of hardware.

Samsung has dramatically improved its update speed over the past several generations, increasingly competing with Google rather than lagging months behind. One UI 9 itself brings Android 17 features alongside Samsung-specific interface and ecosystem changes. The real test will be how quickly stable builds reach mainstream Galaxy A-series and previous-generation flagships after development expands beyond beta testing.
