BGMI Lite pre-registration expands Krafton's battle royale strategy in India

Krafton has opened BGMI Lite pre-registration for Android users in India, targeting players whose devices struggle with the increasingly demanding storage and performance requirements of Battlegrounds Mobile India. The lighter build is expected to require an initial download of roughly 1GB and is planned for release before the end of 2026. India's enormous Android market makes a lower-spec version commercially logical.

A substantial portion of the audience still uses entry-level and older mid-range hardware, meaning graphical ambition can become a barrier to growth rather than an advantage. The challenge will be maintaining compatibility with BGMI's wider competitive culture. If Lite players receive a visibly reduced experience or fragmented events, the product risks feeling like a second-tier version.

If Krafton can preserve responsive gunplay and regular content while dramatically lowering system requirements, however, BGMI Lite could reach millions of players currently excluded by hardware limitations. iOS pre-registration is not part of the initial Android-focused rollout.
