Nothing OS 5.0 unveiled with Android 17, expanded customization and new Glyph controls

Nothing has formally unveiled Nothing OS 5.0, its next major Android interface based on Android 17. The update expands customization across the homescreen and lockscreen while adding redesigned system elements, new Glyph controls and deeper Essential AI functionality. Nothing continues to treat visual identity as a central product feature rather than applying a lightly modified version of stock Android. Version 5.

0 introduces new animations, interface effects and additional personalization while retaining the brand's recognizable monochrome and dot-inspired styling. The company is also refining practical areas such as notifications and system controls. Nothing OS matters because software has become one of the company's strongest ways to differentiate hardware built from many of the same components available to larger competitors.

Long-term support remains the other side of that strategy, and older Nothing devices will not all receive the new version. The rollout begins with supported recent models before expanding more widely. Stability and battery behavior will ultimately matter more than screenshots once users begin installing it.
