PocketBook has revealed the PocketBook Q, a 5.84-inch e-reader designed around a narrow smartphone-like form factor. The company plans to showcase the device publicly at IFA 2026 in Berlin in early September. PocketBook's decision to shrink rather than enlarge an e-reader is notable because most recent premium models have moved toward bigger displays for comics, PDFs and note-taking. The Q instead targets portability, creating something that can realistically fit into a jacket or trouser pocket.
A phone-sized e-reader may sound redundant when every smartphone already supports Kindle and other reading apps, but E Ink still offers significant advantages for prolonged reading, particularly outdoors and for users trying to avoid notifications and bright displays. The product also arrives as compact single-purpose devices regain some appeal among consumers tired of doing everything on one screen. Pricing and final regional availability have not yet been detailed.
IFA should provide the first opportunity to judge whether the small panel feels liberating or simply too cramped.
